Vermeer BC600XL Brush Chipper.
- Takes branches up to 100mm (4") in diameter.
- Hydraulic Feed makes it safer and easier to use with less blow back than a gravity fed chipper
Safety:
- Safety guide must be read before use. Please ask staff if you cannot locate the safety guide on the machine
- Machine Manual must be read before use
Note: the below information is not intended as a replacement for reading the complete manual (located on the side of the brush chipper in a black plastic holder). All customers must read the full manual before attempting to operate the machine.
Starting procedure:
- Disengage cutting disc using clutch lever
- Set choke as necessary
- Place Upper Feed Control in Neutral
- Set Throttle midway between Slow and Fast
- Turn key to start engine
- Move Throttle to idle and allow engine to warm up for a few minutes. Adjust choke as necessary
Operating the Brush Chipper
- Set the engine Throttle slightly above idle
- Grip the Belt Tightener Lever firmly and Slowly pull up and back to engage Cutter Disc (Never engage cutter disc at night RPMs as this will damage the belt, resulting in a replacement belt charge of $270)
- Once belt tightener is fully engaged, increase engine RPM to full throttle
Important:
- Never run starter motor more than 10 seconds. Allow starter motor 1 minute to cool between attempts
- In cold weather take more tile to warm up the hydraulic fluid. After engine is warm, let it run for a minimum of 5 more minutes at low RPM before operating any controls (slow engine down if hydraulic pump squeaks due to insufficient oil)
Shutdown procedure:
- Return Upper Feed Control Bar to Neutral
- Reduce engine speed to idle, and let it cool down in idle position for a few minutes
- Disengage belt tightener (aka cutting disc clutch lever)
- Shut off engine and remove key
- Wait for cutter disc and belt to stop (look at the end of the shaft on the rear side of the cutter disc housing).
- Close and Larch Feed Table
